The day I received my DVM

Assalamualaikum wbt.

Alhamdulillah. Berjaya menamatkan pelajaran setelah 5 tahun bertungkus lumus. (bertungkus lumus kerr? :P)

Title pun dah ditukar dari Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVM) kepada Doctor Of Veterinary Medicine (DVM). So tiadalah spekulasi "korang ni grad nanti jadi vet ke?"

This is what Allah destined me to be. Doktor Haiwan.
Bak kata Prof Muhaya,  semoga pekerjaan ini dapat menjadi ladang pahala, pencen kubur kita kelak. InsyaAllah.

This girl finally got her DVM :)

Thanks to my junior, shirley for capturing my moments :)

During our oath taking lead by Faris.

38 of us. The pioneer. The trailblazers. :)

Vetties :)

it was indeed a very beautiful moment to all of us. Esp to our hardworking dean, our  fellow lecturers and fellow staff support. Alhamdulillah for these people.

Sekarang semua dah bergerak mengikut hala tuju masing-masing.

Pharmaceutical, Laboratory works, Large Animals, Equine, Small Animals, Aquatic, Government service, Academicians,
May Allah's blessing be with all of you. May we cross path again in the future.
Keep in touch :')

Gelugop The Sumatran Rhino

Assalamualaikum wbt,

I am currently  having my voluntary practical at Lok Kawi Wildlife Park. I've always been fancy of wildlife since my voluntary work at Zoo Taiping back in my 1st year yet I still haven't done any practical in wildlife ever since. So here I am. J But I personally asked Dr Rosa to be her follower. Not that cage-cleaning-food-giving kind of practical.

This is Gelugop. She is assumed to be a 35 years old Sumatran Rhinocerus. She’s been transferred from Tabin Wildlife Reserve 3 years ago and she’s blind btw. Hence, easier to be handled. She does look aggressive and beastly from outside but deep down she is just like any other animal, she wanted to be loved to be patted. I believed that animals only attacked when they feel provoked. Gelugop definitely one friendly rhino! After a few minutes of ice breaking, she is totally into me now. Hehe.

Alhamdulillah En Malik is being generous with me by allowing me to pet her. He said, not everybody is allowed to be with her like the way I did. J

I cant really disclosed what’s happening with Gelugop but let me just say thick-skinned animals like rhino or buffalo don't just simply love to wallow in the mud. Yes, that’s their nature. But there are reasons behind it. Rhino’s skin are thick but sensitive. They are prone to sunburns and insects bites. That’s why rhino loves to wallow in the mud. To protect their skin.

This is gelugop wallowing.
She makes me wanted to wallow with her as well.
*grrr*

I also learned that rhino is a solitary browser. Meaning to say that they will travel from one area to another and love to be forever alone. They only come together when they are horny. (Pardon my language :P)
I also learned that there are less than 20 Sumatran Rhinocerus in Borneo right now. That makes them a critically endangered species right now.  Many  work has been done to breed them but so many challenges arise such as :
            1.       Poaching
            2.       Illegal encroachment into rhino habitat
            3.       Doesn’t meet to breed
            4.       Reproductive tract problem in female
            5.       Death rate > Birth rate
(source : www.wwf.or.my)

In conclusion, to all vet students, zoology or any biology students, please be continue your master or PHD in rhino and be a rhino experts especially in rhino reproduction! Because what have done now only preserving them. They need to be conserved! They need us!  #SelfReminder

Be Strong Gelugop!
and the rest of Sumatran Rhino as well...

4th year Already! wOOT! wOOT!

Salam,

So, I'm back at Kelantan. I'm a 4th year now. Alhamdulillah. It has been 3 weeks since my arrival. Haha. I know 3 weeks! Many things had happened in 3 weeks.

1st week

- occupied with clinical training presentation and  completing my report and log book (procrastination. as always. I managed to write 15 cases while everybody write 1 case per day! -,-"

- move my stuffs from Taman Bendahara to new hostel here at Seri Kemumin aka Padang Tembak. Pammie borrowed a van from one uncle from her church. The whole van is filled with our stuffs! We took almost 2 or maybe 3 days to bring our stuffs inside our house here at 2nd floor. phew~

Anyways, I am in love with my new crib. Everything is perfect for now. They allocate 8 persons per house and 2 persons per room and  my housemates are Pammie, intan, tay, Sarah, Husna, Ayuni and Fadilah ; my roomates is still the same, intan.  Everything is by far, perfect enough for me. Alhamdulillah. Would you like a tour? haha, later probably.

- UMK 2nd Convocation were held and we're selling grduation bears and flowers made from ferrero roche chocs. We learned so much and hope for better sales next year. Most of my mpp mates were the graduates this time. Azfar, Pijan, Kak Zu, Hafizuddin, Sharizal, Mat nor and Zul. I didnt manage to meet Kak Zu and Mat Nor though. Really wish all the best to you guys. This is only the beginning. May bright future awaits for you. :)

The flower girls and Sawak. Congratulations!

Us and Dr. sandie. We miss you doc! All the best for your PHD in UK.
we'll be meeting again in 3 years time. as colleague.InsyaAllah :)

2nd week

- The class is now in session. I'm taking 6 subjects this semester; Ruminant Disease, Cats and Dogs Disease, Avian Disease, Pathology 3, Marketing and Professional Ethics. Studying disease is tough as all those subjects you've learned from Year 1 - Year 3 are connected to each other. Esp the virus- bacteria-parasite stuffs! What can you expect from someone who has a weak basic like me? >.< But I think my training at the clinics sure do make it easier bcoz you've seen those disease before.  Digesting 6-8 diseases in different species of animal per day is ____________ (filled it yourself).

- Vet Welcoming Week programme was held and organize by us SDV4. It's great to see all the new faces and at the same time, reminiscing back  your freshie's moments. Only at that time, we didn't have any senior to celebrate and guide us. All the juniors are good, well-behave (LOL) and very enthusiastic! (or look enthusiastic? LOL) I'm with the sukaneka team. I think we did a pretty good job.  We played Guess Guess Guess, Captain Ball, Handicapped gladiators, Dizzy-Copta and Tarik Tali. All the games were fun and funny!

kakak-kakak fasi

gonna miss you guys :')

SDV 1,2,3 and 4. only some are present but we're getting bigger and bigger now.

3rd week

- now the class is really IN SESSION. And same goes to Assignments, reports and presentations. Personally I love Avian disease more. Not the subject but the lecturer. Dr Tan is really our 'Dr.Sandie' right now. can't explain it but I'm glad that he's here. A genius like him can be anywhere is this world but He said he'll be here just for two years to help us. *cry*

P/S: Home cleaning and necessities shopping are done (i guess completely?) and now all I have to do is preparing my mental for the tough clinical years. InsyaAllah. And wait for JPA to bank in my allowances ASAP! We all pokai already @_@

Another thing...

I miss this budak kecik in this picture!
lolot rindu wawa
T_T

most of all, i miss 'kacau' her in her sleep until she'll cry and then dad will scold both of us.
I miss daddy. I miss mummy. I miss home!!

P.S.S: Alhamdulillah. I got picked for MyCAT program. whoever pick my name, THANK YOU LUCKY HANDS!! Going to walk 7km in for poachers hunting this oct! I hope we'll eventually found and catch one. and of course, be safe in the end. heee~ Plus, my bestfriend will be coming to Kelantan soon for his practical at USM. Gonna be a happy october ^_^

Monologue

"I'm scared. I'm nervous. I'll start my practical at Sabah Animal Medical Centre tomorrow and I think I'm not ready yet!!!"

Dear Lot,

Don't be scared. Nervous is normal. If you ask for readiness, when will you ever be ready? You're there to learn. Not to show your smartness. You have nothing to show. Hence, LEARN.
If you don't know, Tell them. Ask for the doctor to teach you. Build the confidence working in a clinic area.  Build the the talent.
Build the character.
Build the Value compassion.
Build the relationship.

Be the greatest vet intern you can be. :)

Yours Truly,
Yourself

P/S: wish me luck peeps. And Happy Last 10 days of Ramadhan. Speed up your ibadah don't slow down.

Last Vet Med practical! Bandages~~~

My December planner. Lovely isn't it??

This month it's preparation time. For the final war. In the meantime, these tests are like a small war, to test and brush up your techniques, improve your knowledge and skills. Sharpen your weapon and don't get sick coz you really2 need to be ready. 3rd year, Semester 1's final exam. Just do your best Lot and Allah will take care of the rest. =)

I have always enjoy vet med class because Dr. Sandie rocks! :D Her lectures are simple, sempoi and straight to the point. It's easy to understood of what she have explained. And her stories about her wildlife stories, full of awesomeness! love! love! love wildlife! Hopefully our application to volunteer at Zoo Taiping this January will be approve. But the subject is though. You need to integrate all the subjects you have learned previously and this semester is just Vet Med 1, the introduction. Next semester, when it comes to the body systems, it'll be more challenging. Last thursday, I think it was the last of our Vet Med practical. We were learning about bandages and how to do bandage an animal. It was fun and hilarious. And dramatic as well coz one of the cat gone crazy and ended up peeing everywhere and hit the transparent sliding door before the boys successfully cached it. Poor the cat.

We're trying to put the Elizabethan collar on the cat. Nice kitty~~

Voila.. FYI, Elizabethan collar used to prevent the animal from biting or licking at its body or scratching at its head and neck while the wounds or injuries heal.

Let the bandaging begins...

Poor little kitty hurts its tummy.. Don't worry we vets will help you up! :P
Dr Sandie taught us how to bandage head injury

Aiyoyo.. This is just for the sack of knowledge ok.

Tail ( shieda and me), Abdomen (tay, pammie, Nana), Head (Dr. sandie)

yeay! Heals up dy..
Sometimes, it's not easy to handle the animals. Apatah lagi kalau yang cedera kan.
So, handle them gently and quietly or give them some tranquilizer.

How it responds when we put on that collar on him.. HAHA

And this is during Dr Sandie bandage his head. He cried like a baby. So cute!

P/S I Love You : Dr Sandie will be going to pursue her studies next year. Gonna miss her for sure. And Dr Seng too! :')

P/S Happy sunday-while-I-have-anesthesiology-class-today: We're practising Robert Jones Bandages. FYI :))

First Vet Med Practical: PE in avian

Salam.

For those who don't know, PE stands for Physical Examination. We were divided into 3 groups. Well, it's four group initially. and that last group had to be dismissed as we only have 3 rotation for this few weeks. My group members are Farhan, Afiq, Luqman, Teng, Erni, Ain, Asma, Tay, Shirah, Pammie and yours truly. :)
Group 1 (That's us!) are assigned to do PE on Avian, Group 2 on cats and Group 3 on Equine.

We were given some sort of check list for general inspection and PE, Fuhh~ glad I'd make some revision before practical or else for sure I'll be fuzzy for the entire practical. We were given a broiler chicken so, you wont see much of lack in it's conformity. One of the broiler was too obese, it cannot even stand still and walk properly. It's feet unable to bear the weight. Thank God they only live for about 45 days before being culled. If not, can you imagine bearing such weight for your entire life some more the damage it can brings to your feet? ( Reminder for me to loose some weight. Darn. -.-)

So basically, to perform PE on a chicken or any avian species, first and foremost is to observe the bird's appearance and behavioral from a distance. This is more to observing the flocks of chicken. Are they calm? How is the flocks sound? Do cluck normally? Since we were only given 3 chickens, so there's not much to observe. They're just lying down.

After that we carry on with the physical examination. It started with the head and neck > Eyes > Nostril & Beak > Feather & Vent > Breast Muscle > Wings > Leg and Feet.
Other than that, we examine the heart beat, CRT (Capillary Refill Time) and also the mucous membrane. Dr. Sandy also shows us the primary feathers and the area to cut when performing pinioning which is removal of the birds primary feathers to restrict its from flying. It reminds me of Dr. Raymond during our external Examination. He asked me, "Do you want me to cut your primary feathers?" without knowing exactly what is the meaning I just said No. 3 times ok. TRAUMAAAA~ hahahaha

Well there's more other thing to examine actually. The highlight of the practical when our chicken died after we perform Intracardiac puncture on it. Dr Sandy show us to collect blood from the wing and intracardiac. She'd successfully took out quite an amount of blood from the chicken's heart but after some time, just when it's our turn trying to collect blood from the wing, the chicken vomit blood and passed out. It was a tragic dead indeed. May you rest in peace inside Prof Aung's tummy. Beside that, I think the ultimate highlight of our practical would be when the chicken poops at Teng when he tried to take the chicken temperature from its vent. Super LOL

Checking the mucous membrane and trachea of the chicken.

This is where you'll cut to remove its primary feather- Dr Sandy Chong

Yours truly :)

You'll die for nothing...
P/S I Love You: Mistakes are the portal of discovery- James Joice (1882-1941). Will make sure you die for nothing dear chickie.

P/S I Hate You : Am I in stupor right now? Where is your focus Lot??!! >.<

DVM3 starts NOW!

Yeah! Leaving the land below the wind with millions of hopes and now currently at LCCT terminal heading to the Blissful Abode, Kelantan. I'm as pump up as the BEP's song. Due to my lazy habits and lotsa procrastination process happened during the hols, my pre-exam nervous strikes me harder than before. T_T

I'm holding on to the quote invented by myself, "Take it as one of the life's experience. Don't worry, Life's goes on." and "Bolos saja dinding itu!!!!" by Zizan. Semangat2x! :D

Easier said than done huh. -.-

P/S I Love You : Celebrating Eid with my COMPLETE family (Everyone is here! :D), Family grow bigger with the present of Raqib Syairullah & Hizburrahman Fayyad to my family. May you guys live up to your name. Amin. Despite of the accident, I'm pretty enjoying my holidays. What a blissful one. Praise Allah.

P/S I Hate You: I am indeed eager to starts the new year. New Semester. New life of DVM3 but.... that bloody External Examination spoiled the excitement. T_T

This semester's subjects are...
#PATHLOGY 1
# CLINICAL MICROBIOLOGY
# VETERINARY MEDICINE 1
# SURGERY 1
# ANESTHESIOLOGY
# MANDARIN 3

Anyway, Excitednyaaaaa~ Sem baru pelajaran baru.. More challenging and bumpy the roads, more higher you bounce, the more exciting the journey is. FIGHTING! :D

Titbits Life as a vet student and Tips on How to be confident

That's how I felt these couple of weeks. February 2011 definitely NOT a favourable month. Rasa nak pergi bercuti aje padahal baru je balik dari bercuti. Sem ni baru rasa macam budak medic. Hidup sangat hectic. BESTNYA HIDUP KORANG!! Banyaknya masa korang!! Kalau kami, kelas mula jam 8 habis 5 atau 6 petang. Malam belajar untuk kelas esok/test/buat assignment/Presentation. Aktiviti hujung minggu kami adalah revision/fieldtrip/meeting/project activities. So much to learn this semester!!
LIFE AS A VET STUDENT IS TRULY PREOCCUPIED!

Tapi aku ni jenis yang kurang effort lah. Sekarang baru aku menyesal bila jawab test macam FECES/FEACES. Memang teruk! I screw up all my test.. My poultry farm is not well managed! My immune system is a mess and confused! Let's see how my drugs is next week. Silap hari bulan mati patient aku salah prescribe ubat! I have to start from scratch now. Tak boleh dah sambil lewa. Like Dr Mokhtar said, 'Study because you want to be a vet! Not study for the sake of exam of test'. Aku kena ubah balik nawaitu belajar aku sebab Allah dan pelbagai species pesakit yang aku rawat nanti. Ini tak, selalu study last minit! Geram dengan diri sendiri. >,<

During our previous virology class, Dr. Jasbir had given us some tips on HOW TO BE CONFIDENT.
It's kinda gave an impact to most of us because after that, everyone has change somewhere somehow somepart.

1. Good Dressing. Agree 100%. Notice it when you wear new clothes, new shoes or whatever new to us especially during primary school and highschool, With that new uniform, shoes and bag,,we feel happy. Feel confident. We start our first day of school with a smile, eager to meet friends and teachers. That's how it works. Tapi tak payah lah beli baju baru. Pakai apa yang ada dan improvise. Yang penting bersih dan kemas! Iron baju tu, tak suka tengok orang pakai baju tak seterika especially kemeja. Nampak sangat selekeh.

2. Walk Fast. Ini aku tak berapa tahu. Yang penting walk with confident. Tengok depan bukan tengok jalan raya.

3. Complement Other people. Puji biar ikhlas, jangan nak bodek pula. Kita jaga hubungan kita sesama manusia barulah kita ada keyakinan nak berdepan dengan mereka. :)

4. Take front seat. Paling penting, it shows that you are interested in what you are attending for.

5. Speak Up. Express yourself by say something. Especially in a discussion, meeting etc etc. Sio that people hear your thoughts and by the same time, you are contributing something. Sangat tak suka orang yang tak nak cakap depan dan luahkan apa pendapat mereka. Lepas tu pendam atau cerita sambung kat bilik. It make things more complicated and show that you are not confident enough to express you feeling and thoughts.

6. Work out.

Maybe. But from my observation, orang yang ada couple ni macam tiba-tiba confident semacam. Added value lah katakan. Tapi depends dengan pers[p]ektif masing-masing jugak. Sebab bila bercinta, semuanya indah, pelbagai jenis hormon dirembeskan membuatkan kita gembira berseri-seri. Dress up well untuk orang tersayang etc etc. secara tidak langsung membuat kita lebih confident menghadapi dunia!

P/S: “Happy are those who dream dreams and are ready to pay the price to make them come true.” -Leon J. Suenes.

I don't go to med school but vet school definetely hard. But FUN!

Oh ya,, ini untuk kamuu~ All the best in your examination!! ^_^

1. Ketika memasuki dewan peperiksaan:

Maksudnya: “Dan katakanlah: “Wahai Tuhanku!

Maksudnya: “Wahai Tuhanku, lapangkanlah bagiku dadaku.

Maksudnya: “Ya Allah!

Maksudnya: “Ya Allah! Tuhan yang menghimpunkan manusia pada hari yang tiada keraguan padanya. Himpunkan barangan dan maklumat yang hilang daripadaku.”

Oh, It's just me whining again.

It's just another ordinary day until I came back from campus overheard intan telling Tay that our Semester break would be until 19th december. Pffft~ Gosh, they are doing this again. Don't they get it? That ticket that will get my Ass HOME is not fixed priced!! and it's not in puluhan ringgit ok. It's totally ruined my mood and now I can't focus on my revision.

I'm learning all about business plan, income, Gross margin analysis, all about accounting stuff and it's boring and difficult to understand. Thank God I didn't choose accountancy. It's pretty hard to open a farm and don't expect you'll be succesfull immediately. Dear all farmers in the world, trust me, The first two years are the hardest. And third year also if your plan sucks. So, please plan your project well. Fail to plan is plan to fail. That's what I learned during En Rahim's talk today.

Went for lunch at Marima's with xoxo. Damn hungry kot. Jam 3 lebih baru dapat makan. Done few revision and drawings before headed back to hostel. Came across ping pong match between Prof Imad and some staff. Wow,, I don't know Prof Imad can play. He won! :D

Fuyoo~

Gambar selingan. Abaikan kalau tak nak kata comel. Hehe

Ganbatte! Ajaaa Fighting! Jai yo! Jai Ho?? LOL
So, any suggestion where and how I'm going to spend my semester break in Semenanjung? I'm thinking of doing voluntary practical at Zoo Melaka lah. Plus, My sis said go back to malacca and take care of her catssss while she and my B.I.L going back to Sabah. Huhuuuu. The house and car will be mine!! hehe. But, I really really dont want to miss Wawa's graduation this end of November.

P/S: I need to buy mouse. Currently borow Intan's mouse. My touchpad won't work. Is it the time for me to buy new lappy? Tee hee :))
