a short visit to Kelantan International Wau Festival 2012

Assalamualaikum wbt.

Yesterday we went to Kelantan International Wau Festival at Pantai Genting, Tumpat. It's just near Pantai Seri Tujoh, my favourite beach here in Kelantan.

We went there by Van Pak Li as it is much cheaper since there are 7 of us. The roads to Tumpat were familiar as I've been there twice. First during my first year participating Bengkel Sosioekonomi and the second one was with my xoxo geng and yana and her siblings for picnic. Both were a great moments i must say.

Geng Van Pak Li

Jammed.

Look! Look!

There are so many of them. It was International Kite Competition

Mr Crab is our fav among all!

Me and not-so-flying Gold kaloi kite.

still there are many other cute kites but they are so out of reach!

Some-more, the weather isn't compromising at all.
It rains heavily and all of them touches the ground.

That's the end of our short visit to The international wau festival. If only we got a car and it isn't raining, we might stay until night for the Lighting wau competition. Hey! it's better than staying at the hostel watching movie kan.. Just to kill some time before our voluntary vet next week. Can't wait! I wanna go home and meet my parent!

what's next to look forward? Bachok Beach festival and Kelantan International Water Festival! Wee~ In the meantime, just enjoy your free time Lot. It doesn't come often. :)

random post

Assalamualaikum wbt.

How come I neglected you for so long dear bloggie. Sorry. I've been occupied by something else. yalah tu. How's life so far? it's been GREAT! What else could a university student would be doing except studying kann. Study jak. Is it difficult for you to do dear lolot? Ughh. Next week there will be plenty of midterm test. Radiology. Obstetric and Reproduction. Vet Med 2. Awesomeness!!

Below are my routine this semester;

Weekdays except Tuesday: Wake up. Lectures. Brunch. Lectures. went back to hostel. surau. study. sleep.
Tuesday: Wake up. Rotation. went back to hostels. Surau. Assignments/study/entertainment
Weekend: wake up. Riding lessons/Follow up cases/ Rest. Reorganizing life.

It may look boring but I'm occupied and by that i'm grateful. Because someone somewhere else may desperately want to be in my shoe. Honestly, being a vet student is the greatest thing that ever happened to me. Thank you Allah for every opportunity given. I love what i'm doing right now. Alhamdulillah :)

I've noticed  that i'm indecisive and easily influenced by other people (about doing good things only lah). I can't just say No and I try to be EVERYTHING to EVERYONE. This is not good at all. And recently, our Vet family is full of drama. Unnecessary one. So from now on, I'll avoid myself getting involved in this kind of soap operas, I'll avoid unnecessary conversation and only keeping the positive one in my life. InsyaAllah.

and after nearly 1 year, at last, this heart of mine gave up. The feeling is not there anymore. I don't feel he's that awesome anymore. And from now on, I'll teach this heart of mine to be strict and not easily fall into the wrong people. Particularly strangers. Honestly, I'm not sure with my feeling but I'll let Allah decide what's best for me, my religion and my akhirah. Right now, siti shakinna chu will only focus on graduation and be the best vet ever, earn money for mummy and daddy and travel across the world.

But despite all of these, there are always somethings that I look forward to keep my life going.

1. Riding lessons on weekend. Not just the riding, the feeling that I get when i'm around the horses. They always get me overwhelmed!
2. Balik KL jumpa Qistina & Faris! Auntie lolot miss you guys so much!
3. UTM Horse show 2012. Just being a 'helper' :))
4. Volunteer Vet @ Sabah!! Gonna show my classmates what Sabah is all about.
5. Practical at SAMC. and this time will be for a month. And this time I'll learn more. InsyaAllah.

Siti Shakinna chu is missing her dad terribly. Learning about CVS in Vet Med 2 breaks my heart, Every time i read about it, it makes me thinking of my dad. High blood pressure.Restricted sodium diet. Exercise intolerance.Decompensate stage. #CRY#

Me and Farouk. I don't mind with the dirty stabling jobs, long ques of waiting-to-ride. as long as in the end i get the chance to be on him. Even for a while. :)

P/S: Do you notice my writing pattern? Serabut kan. Yup. That's how serabut I am now. I'm loosing my focus and I need to get it back. Someone help me please :(

Assalamualaikum wbt.

Being in the second semester of my third year really do makes me feel like a veterinarian already. Remember the round systems, yeah. you have to work on a case and present. During the presentation, you'll get bombarded by lots of questions related to your case. Every word on your slide is questioned. Even grammatical error. Hence, you couldn't afford to make mistakes. Veterinarian, as do human doctor couldn't afford to make mistakes as we're also dealing with the lives of Allah's precious creatures.

My pathology round taught me to think universally. My group supervisor taught us not to receive carcass without enough history or information. As in to protect ourselves from highly dangerous pathogens such as anthrax, rabies virus and others. As my other respected lecturers disagree with that statement saying that, with or without enough history you must take the carcass and perform the post-mortem. That is your duty as a veterinarian. For example, if there's an outbreak in your farm that you don't know what is the cause, it is your duty to perform post-mortem and investigate the cause of that outbreak. There are plenty of ways to protect yourselves, for example, by wearing protective face masks, gloves (if possible, wear double gloves), coverall, labcoat or an apron. And you must perform the post-mortem as septic as possible.

See, how we, students stucked between two different point of view of our respected lecturers. Like the malay's saying "Ditelan mati ibu, di luah mati bapa' and you don't want to disrespect to your teachers. If only we Asians argue like the western does. Our problem is, we tend to take our disagreement by heart.

Today was the most interesting surgery class ever. I'm sorry Prof Mirza but I do like Dr. Rumaizi way of teaching more. It's not that Prof Mirza isn't good. He is a great surgeon. It's just Prof Mirza is way too fast when performing the techniques and don't really let us do the thing by ourselves. Teacher job is to teach and guide us, open the door and let us discover the knowledge ourselves. Surgery is nothing until you practice it.
And to Prof. Madya. Dr. Rumaizi, Welcome to our FPV family. :))

This is us with Dr. Rumaizi during Miss Ahlami's wedding. He is Miss Ahlamis's brother in law. I guess we really do capture his heart until he decided to be part of our FPV family. :)
Btw, he is cool! I like the way he talks and perform the surgery techniques. Sangat kemas!

Love Note 1: This week I'll be in Large Animal Round (Ruminant). Tomorrow will be heading to cow farm. Moo Moo. I hope it's a dairy farm. Merasa juga minum susu segar terbaik dari ladang! :D

round round round!

Assalamualaikum wbt.

It's only week 2 day 3 but I felt like ages already. Tired! But I'm enjoying it. Class start at 8, ended at 5pm.
Sometimes it ends early, sometimes it ends late. But no complain. I'm enjoying it! Awesomeness!

We got 4 rounds comprises of Pathology, Small Animals, Large Animal and Surgery. Each round you'll have to work on a case pertaining the round you are into. If you are in your Large Animal's round, you'll have to go to a farm, find your case and investigate it.  It is Week 2 and we have done 2 round so far. My group have done Small Animal's round last week and Pathology round just today. Having a round is so tiring. You have to work on your case. If it takes you to work everyday, then you'll work. Nevertheless, I'm enjoying this round system so much. It makes me eager to study, to find information, to discuss with my groups and to train myself to think like a vet. I never felt like this before.

Tomorrow my group will present our case in Small Animal round. We have two cases: Tenesmus & Obstipation in feline and Congenital Defects in Pit Bull Terrier. Both are rare cases.

The first one sounds very common but it is actually not. The spayed 7 years old Siamese-mix cat was having obstipation and even after enemas was done, there are still not resolution. After taking X-ray and other diagnostic measures carried out. It is found that, there's a stricture that suppressing the colon against the spine. Hence, the feces couldn't pass through. And to add that, the stricture was result from a scar tissue possibly from the previous OHE. Complicated much huh? Dr Sandy said it was a rare case. Indeed an Iatriogenic error caused by a vet.

The second case was a congenital defect in pit bull. It is some sort of underdevelopment of the perineal with penile and preputial hypoplasia. This kind of condition are usually appears in Boston Terriers breed.

Upon receiving the cases, you must work on your history, carry our PE, DDx, Diagnostic plan, Definitive Diagnosis, Treatment, Prevention & Control.

okay. Everything sounds so pro right? FYI, This cases was taken from internet. We don't have real patient yet. Hehe

Wish me luck for tomorrow's presentation! Hopefully all the lecturers will be nice to us. :)

It's a wrap for Sem 5! :)

Assalamualaikum wbt.

And what makes it so perfectly is that I have new niece that's waiting for me!! Congrates Kak Ina & Abang azman for their fourth child!

Baby Aisyah Elysa...
Auntie yoyot can't wait to peluk.dukung.cubit.cium baby aisyah!

And what makes me so touched is that they willing to postpone the aqiqah and wait till i'm back home. Terharu dengan family sendiri. Lolot sayaaaang korang sangat2x! :')

Selesai sudah semester 5. Ada tinggal 5 sem lagi. Agak-agak sempat tak naikkan pointer ke 1st class degree?    Nothing is impossible tapi kan, rasa diri ni tak mampu je dapat DL sem ni sebab saya jawab soalan final macam FAECES! serius. Satu pun tak confident. Main jawab je. goreng2. steam2. Masak 3 rasa. >,<

Veterinary Medicine 1
Tahu tak saya yakin jawab soalan pertama je pasal diarrhea. Yang lain saya jawab ikut my 'existing' knowledge which is sangatlah cetek kan. haih. Bila tengok soalan kelima pasal musculoskeletal disease, terbayang-bayang seekor lembu & recall sedaya upaya apa yang belajar dalam kelas. Which got nothing to do with the question at all! Double Hi-5 kat muka T_T

Anaesthesiology
Ini lah subjek paling lemah saya semester ni. Belajar senang tapi jawab periksa sangatlah susah. Nasib baik malam sebelum exam tu ada Asma, pammie, Intan, shud recall back and discuss about the topics. Alhamdulillah. Syukur sangat-sangat.

Clinical Microbiology
Alhamdulillah saya dapat jawab tapi tak semua. Ya Allah, yang maha pemurah lagi penyanyang. Tolong berikan hambaMu ini A solid. Subjek ni 4 jam kredit. Memang pointer spoiler lah kalau tak score. T_T

Surgery 1
Alhamdulillah saya dapat jawab tapi rupanya saya salah baca soalan. soalan nak external suture, saya punya yakin pergi bagi internal suture!! nak tampar 1000000 kali je diri ni. Memang frust lah. Habis 10 markah saya. Sedihhhhhh T_T

Mandarin 3
Alhamdulillah saya dapat jawab. Tahun ini saya lupa perkataan 'Mesin fotostat' & 'fotostat'. Rasanya banyak lagi lah saya lupa. :S Lepas ni dah tak ambil Mandarin dah. Semoga  apa yang saya belajar selama ni saya praktikkan dengan sebaik boleh. Amin.

Pathology 1
Paper last selalu kesian. kenapa? Sebab masa ni saya tak rasa nak ambil exam dah. Saya nak pulang! pulang! pulang! Study pun tak masuk tahu tak?? Malam tu baru saya gelabah, STRESSSS teramat. Dahi kerut sampai kening pun nak tercantum. Sangatlah menyeksakan. I'm repeating 'Ya Allah, ingatkanlah aku' Hundreds! Esoknya. ya saya struggle untuk jawab soalan2 patho. To be honest, patho paling susah sekali saya nak jawab. Soalan ni agak senang tapi tak cukup ilmu kan.

Sekarang ni hanya mampu berdoa & bertawakkal pada Allah. La hawla wallta quwatta illa billah. Berharap sangat-sangat moga Allah lembutkan hati pensyarah saya. Kalau rezeki dapat DL dan naikkan pointer, takkan kemana. InsyaAllah. Yang penting, bersyukur lah atas segala pemberian yang Allah beri. :)

P/S: hari isnin ni mula praktikal seminggu kat Sabah Animal Medical Centre. Doakan semoga saya & pammie dapat belajar sebanyak mungkin. :)

#DearSMEH : I dedicate some verse from the song 'terrified' for you. I can be all that you needed if you let me try... as if you'll let me huh.

Last Vet Med practical! Bandages~~~

My December planner. Lovely isn't it??

This month it's preparation time. For the final war. In the meantime, these tests are like a small war, to test and brush up your techniques, improve your knowledge and skills. Sharpen your weapon and don't get sick coz you really2 need to be ready. 3rd year, Semester 1's final exam. Just do your best Lot and Allah will take care of the rest. =)

I have always enjoy vet med class because Dr. Sandie rocks! :D Her lectures are simple, sempoi and straight to the point. It's easy to understood of what she have explained. And her stories about her wildlife stories, full of awesomeness! love! love! love wildlife! Hopefully our application to volunteer at Zoo Taiping this January will be approve. But the subject is though. You need to integrate all the subjects you have learned previously and this semester is just Vet Med 1, the introduction. Next semester, when it comes to the body systems, it'll be more challenging. Last thursday, I think it was the last of our Vet Med practical. We were learning about bandages and how to do bandage an animal. It was fun and hilarious. And dramatic as well coz one of the cat gone crazy and ended up peeing everywhere and hit the transparent sliding door before the boys successfully cached it. Poor the cat.

We're trying to put the Elizabethan collar on the cat. Nice kitty~~

Voila.. FYI, Elizabethan collar used to prevent the animal from biting or licking at its body or scratching at its head and neck while the wounds or injuries heal.

Let the bandaging begins...

Poor little kitty hurts its tummy.. Don't worry we vets will help you up! :P
Dr Sandie taught us how to bandage head injury

Aiyoyo.. This is just for the sack of knowledge ok.

Tail ( shieda and me), Abdomen (tay, pammie, Nana), Head (Dr. sandie)

yeay! Heals up dy..
Sometimes, it's not easy to handle the animals. Apatah lagi kalau yang cedera kan.
So, handle them gently and quietly or give them some tranquilizer.

How it responds when we put on that collar on him.. HAHA

And this is during Dr Sandie bandage his head. He cried like a baby. So cute!

P/S I Love You : Dr Sandie will be going to pursue her studies next year. Gonna miss her for sure. And Dr Seng too! :')

P/S Happy sunday-while-I-have-anesthesiology-class-today: We're practising Robert Jones Bandages. FYI :))

First Vet Med Practical: PE in avian

Salam.

For those who don't know, PE stands for Physical Examination. We were divided into 3 groups. Well, it's four group initially. and that last group had to be dismissed as we only have 3 rotation for this few weeks. My group members are Farhan, Afiq, Luqman, Teng, Erni, Ain, Asma, Tay, Shirah, Pammie and yours truly. :)
Group 1 (That's us!) are assigned to do PE on Avian, Group 2 on cats and Group 3 on Equine.

We were given some sort of check list for general inspection and PE, Fuhh~ glad I'd make some revision before practical or else for sure I'll be fuzzy for the entire practical. We were given a broiler chicken so, you wont see much of lack in it's conformity. One of the broiler was too obese, it cannot even stand still and walk properly. It's feet unable to bear the weight. Thank God they only live for about 45 days before being culled. If not, can you imagine bearing such weight for your entire life some more the damage it can brings to your feet? ( Reminder for me to loose some weight. Darn. -.-)

So basically, to perform PE on a chicken or any avian species, first and foremost is to observe the bird's appearance and behavioral from a distance. This is more to observing the flocks of chicken. Are they calm? How is the flocks sound? Do cluck normally? Since we were only given 3 chickens, so there's not much to observe. They're just lying down.

After that we carry on with the physical examination. It started with the head and neck > Eyes > Nostril & Beak > Feather & Vent > Breast Muscle > Wings > Leg and Feet.
Other than that, we examine the heart beat, CRT (Capillary Refill Time) and also the mucous membrane. Dr. Sandy also shows us the primary feathers and the area to cut when performing pinioning which is removal of the birds primary feathers to restrict its from flying. It reminds me of Dr. Raymond during our external Examination. He asked me, "Do you want me to cut your primary feathers?" without knowing exactly what is the meaning I just said No. 3 times ok. TRAUMAAAA~ hahahaha

Well there's more other thing to examine actually. The highlight of the practical when our chicken died after we perform Intracardiac puncture on it. Dr Sandy show us to collect blood from the wing and intracardiac. She'd successfully took out quite an amount of blood from the chicken's heart but after some time, just when it's our turn trying to collect blood from the wing, the chicken vomit blood and passed out. It was a tragic dead indeed. May you rest in peace inside Prof Aung's tummy. Beside that, I think the ultimate highlight of our practical would be when the chicken poops at Teng when he tried to take the chicken temperature from its vent. Super LOL

Checking the mucous membrane and trachea of the chicken.

This is where you'll cut to remove its primary feather- Dr Sandy Chong

Yours truly :)

DVM3 starts NOW!

Yeah! Leaving the land below the wind with millions of hopes and now currently at LCCT terminal heading to the Blissful Abode, Kelantan. I'm as pump up as the BEP's song. Due to my lazy habits and lotsa procrastination process happened during the hols, my pre-exam nervous strikes me harder than before. T_T

I'm holding on to the quote invented by myself, "Take it as one of the life's experience. Don't worry, Life's goes on." and "Bolos saja dinding itu!!!!" by Zizan. Semangat2x! :D

Easier said than done huh. -.-

P/S I Love You : Celebrating Eid with my COMPLETE family (Everyone is here! :D), Family grow bigger with the present of Raqib Syairullah & Hizburrahman Fayyad to my family.
